Role Description
As an Optical Assistant at Timperley Village Eyecare, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our customer-focused practice. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in optical work, sales, and customer service, ensuring that every patient receives an exceptional experience from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcome and assist patients in a warm, professional manner
- Carry out pre-screening tests and assist with frame styling and fittings
- Provide expert advice on lens and frame options, leveraging strong product knowledge
- Manage sales transactions, including processing payments and maintaining accurate records
- Schedule and confirm patient appointments, ensuring smooth diary management
- Maintain cleanliness and presentation of the practice, including displays and equipment
- Support the Optometrist and practice team in delivering a seamless patient journey
Requirements
- Previous Optical Experience: Essential to confidently assist patients with dispensing, repairs, adjustments, and product recommendations
- Sales & Customer Service Expertise: Proven track record of achieving sales targets, delivering exceptional customer care, and creating lasting client relationships
- Excellent Communication Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with both patients and team members
- Attention to Detail: Ensuring all documentation, patient details, and product orders are accurate

Notes:
As an Optical Assistant, you’ll make sure every customer gets a great experience when they come into our store. It means listening to what they want, explaining our offers and products, and dispensing single vision, bifocal and varifocal lenses. You’ll work to NHS guidelines (as well as our own high standards), give good, clear advice and make a positive impression, thanks to your polite and professional approach.
To secure this role you will need previous experience as either an optical assistant or dispensing assistant and have a real passion for providing fantastic customer care.
