At Hayes Opticians, we are passionate about clinical excellence and embracing the latest technology to provide outstanding, personalised eye care. Alongside our in-practice services, we proudly deliver domiciliary eye care to the local community and care homes.
We are currently seeking a motivated, friendly, and adaptable Optical Assistant / Receptionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for customer service, strong communication and organisational skills, and a willingness to learn. Confidentiality, integrity, and discretion are essential qualities, as is the ability to remain calm and efficient in a busy, multi-tasking environment.
Key Responsibilities
No two days are the same, and your day-to-day duties will include:
- Managing the reception area and prioritising incoming phone calls
- Booking and confirming patient appointments
- Providing administrative support to the team
- Handling general reception tasks, including greeting patients
- Liaising with care homes and elderly patients as part of our domiciliary services
- Assisting with NHS-related queries and administrative follow-ups
- Supporting with invoice collection and basic finance tasks
Skills & Experience
The following qualities are desirable but not essential, as training will be provided:
- Previous experience in an optical or healthcare setting
- Familiarity with basic optical or healthcare terminology
- Confident in using computers, tablets, and online systems
- Strong customer service skills and a friendly, professional manner
- Knowledge of the local and surrounding areas
