About Us
We are a welcoming, child-focused nursery in Ashby, open all year round, providing high-quality early years care and education. We are currently seeking an experienced Nursery Cook to join our team and help us provide healthy, nutritious meals for children aged 0–5.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook daily meals for up to 40 children, ensuring they are nutritious, balanced, and child-friendly.
- Work creatively with weekly FareShare food deliveries, adapting meals based on available ingredients.
- Collaborate with the cook from our other nursery site to plan menus.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness, and kitchen safety.
- Record food temperatures, cleaning schedules, and manage stock effectively.
- Cater to dietary requirements and allergies.
- Support the nursery team in promoting healthy eating habits.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a similar cooking or kitchen role (childcare, school, or care setting preferred).
- Valid Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 or above).
- Confident preparing meals for large groups (up to 40 children).
- Understanding of food safety, allergens, and nutrition in early years.
- Creative and adaptable, especially when working with varied ingredients.
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail.
Desirable
- Experience working in a nursery or early years setting.
- Familiarity with the Eat Better, Start Better guidelines.
Additional Hours Available
If you are interested in working more than 15 hours per week, we may be able to offer extra hours working directly with children in the nursery rooms.
