Bath & North East Somerset Council is seeking a dedicated Plant Operator / Team Leader to join our waste and recycling services. If you have experience operating plant machinery, we want to hear from you! We currently have three fork lift driver positions in our busy state of the art material recycling facility available. As well as one telehandler operator to run the trade waste transfer station.
About the Role
Responsibilities include:

Operate and maintain plant equipment (e.g., forklifts, balers, sort lines).

Load/unload vehicles and waste bays.

Supervise and support agency staff.

Maintain cleanliness and safety in MRFs and transfer stations
-
Conduct safety checks and complete digital/paperwork records.

Sort contamination and ensure proper waste segregation.
- Sort waste streams generated by our trade customers to maximize recycling and efficiency
About You
Essential:
-
Basic English and Math
-
Forklift Truck License ( or telehandler for the trade transfer station )
-
Experience with plant/machinery
-
Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Health & safety awareness
Working Conditions

Physically demanding role - Work across multiple sites if the business requires

Required to wear PPE and comply with health & safety and drug/alcohol policies.
37.5-hour work week, including bank holidays and three Saturdays for Christmas catch ups. Over time at weekends on the recycling center are also available -
