Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Nightshift Production Supervisor to lead and coordinate a growing team during the night shift, ensuring the smooth and efficient delivery of bespoke plastic and wood sheet cutting and finishing operations.
This role is responsible for supervising approximately 8 staff — including machine operators, packing personnel, and a spray painter — with expected growth in team size as demand increases. A key part of the role is working closely with the day shift production scheduling team to ensure seamless handover and the correct prioritisation of tasks.

Key Responsibilities:Health & Safety:
- Promote and enforce a safe working environment, ensuring compliance with all health and safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Actively monitor safety standards and take corrective action when necessary.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, support, and develop a growing nightshift team, promoting a positive, respectful, and high-performance culture aligned with company values.
Workload Management:
- Allocate and monitor daily tasks across machine operation, packing, and spray painting based on production priorities.
Adaptability:
- Adjust resources and workflow throughout the shift to meet targets and resolve issues efficiently.
Scheduling Coordination:
- Liaise with the day shift production scheduling team to ensure accurate prioritisation and continuity of production.
Operational Oversight:
- Supervise the safe and effective use of machinery, reporting and resolving issues in coordination with maintenance as needed.
Quality Assurance:
- Ensure that all products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
Shift Handover:
- Provide clear, structured handover notes at the end of each shift to maintain continuity and transparency.
Team Expansion:
- Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and training as the night team continues to grow.
Process Improvement:
- Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, workflow, and team performance. Be able to implement and maintain LEAN culture.
HR Duties:
- Approve nightshift staff overtime and leave requests in line with company policy.
- Conduct return-to-work interviews following absences.
- Conduct staff appraisals, providing constructive feedback and development plans.
- Be involved in disciplinary procedures as required, in conjunction with HR and management.
Administrative & Compliance Duties:
- Ensure the upkeep and correct filing of all relevant paperwork, including (but not limited to):
- Kanban stock cards
- Machine checklists (ensuring checks are completed and filed appropriately)
- Non-Conformance Reports for raising and documenting any quality or operational issues
- Carry out and document lock-up checks at the end of each shift, ensuring site security and operational readiness for the next day.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Experience in a supervisory or team leader role within a manufacturing or production environment
- Knowledge of plastic and wood materials, cutting processes, and finishing techniques preferred
- Understanding of production scheduling and resource management
- Awareness of health and safety best practices
- Forklift license is desirable but not essential
- Experience with beam saws or laser machinery would be a strong asset
