Tutor Opportunity – Perfect for Mechanics Ready to Teach
Permanent Term-Time Contract | 40 Hours/Week | DBS Checked | Pro Rata Salary | Lunch Provided (on select days)
Start Date: September 2025
Salary – £28000 - £34000 Depending on experience
If you're a skilled mechanic who’s ever thought, “I’d love to pass this knowledge on” — this could be the perfect next step. We’re looking for someone practical, patient, and passionate to join our team as a Tutor, helping young people (including those with additional needs) build confidence and real-world skills.
This is a term-time only role, working 40 hours per week, so you’ll be off when your kids are giving you more time with family and a better work-life balance. You don’t need to be a qualified teacher just someone who’s keen to learn, connect, and make a difference.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting students in small groups or one-to-one, helping them understand practical concepts and build confidence
- Creating simple, engaging lesson plans that suit different learning styles
- Tracking progress and adjusting your approach to help each student succeed
- Building a positive, encouraging environment where students feel safe to ask questions and grow
- Working closely with parents, teachers, and support staff to make sure every learner gets what they need
- Keeping basic records of how students are doing and sharing updates with the team
What We’re Looking For
We’re open-minded — if you’ve got the right attitude, we’ll help you build the rest.
- Experience working with young people (especially those with additional needs) is a big plus
- Great communication skills — clear, friendly, and down-to-earth
- Patience, empathy, and a flexible approach to teaching
- Any teaching or tutoring experience is helpful, but not essential
- Qualifications in education or mechanics are welcome, but not a dealbreaker
- You’ll need to be DBS checked, and we’ll ask for references before you start
Why This Role Might Be Right for You
If you’re a mechanic who’s mentored apprentices, enjoys explaining how things work, or just wants to give back, this is a great way to step into teaching with full support. And with a term-time schedule, you’ll be off when your kids are, making it easier to spend quality time with family.
