Assisting and supporting GPs and other members of the Primary Health Care Team· Dealing with patients and assisting them with access to services
Hours: 20 hours across Tuesday, Thursday and Friday
This position reports to the Office Supervisor. This role requires strong IT skills and a good attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- PA for GPs / Practice Management
- Servicing the needs of patients, GPs & Managers
- Liaising with patients and other health professionals
- Working with the administrative team to carry out processes related to the running of the Practice
- Typing of referral letters using the Clinical Computer Systems, SystmOne (TPP)
- Inputting and retrieving data from the Clinical Computer system
- Support main switchboard telephone enquires service
- Support IT services within the Practice
- Support Safeguarding Administrator
Key Activities and accountabilities:
- Liaising with health professionals
- Typing of referral letters and dispatching them electronically using the ERS system and manually
- Processing electronic correspondence, filing and action as appropriate
- Using the TPP SystmOne clinical computer system to carry out tasks related to patient care, such as repeat prescriptions
- Dealing with the general public on the telephone and face to face as required
- To be accountable for confidentiality in all areas of the work
- To attend appropriate training to update and maintain skills
- To assist with the coordination for the completion of safeguarding reports
- To assist with the monitoring of the safeguarding email inbox
Qualifications/Skills
- Pass in GCSE English and Maths is essential
- Must be willing to use the phone to speak to patients in order to follow up on their communications
- Must have good IT skills and be willing to develop these with the role

Practice Details - Henfield Medical Centre has 3 Partners and 3 Salaried GP with a patient list size of approximately 10,300. We are a training and dispensing practice The practice area is mainly rural and has a growing population due to local development. We offer a range of primary care services. We operate from well equipped, purpose built premises. We employ a team of nurses, including Advanced Nurse Practitioners and Nurse Practitioners as well as Health Care Assistants offering phlebotomy and health clinics. We also have a physiotherapy, chiropody suite and counselling services.

Pay: £12.21-£12.80 per hour

- GCSE or equivalent (required)

- Medical Secretary: 1 year (preferred)
