Yoxall Health Centre is a friendly rural GP practice, we are looking for a new Medical Receptionist to join the team. Yoxall Health Centre is located near to Burton on Trent and Lichfield.
Job Responsibilities:
- Deal with all general enquiries
- Provide an effective and efficient reception service to patients and all other visitors to the practice
- Explain practice procedures to patients
- Receive and make telephone calls as required
- Inputting requests for home visits onto the computer system, ensuring careful recording of all relevant details and where necessary refer to Duty Doctor.
- To maintain the computer clinical system in an accurate and secure manner.
- Transferring calls as necessary to our dispensary and any other departments as required.
- Make new and follow-up appointments
- Registering and deducting patients on the Emis web system.
- All administration tasks required.
- Input patient information on to the Emis Web system as required.
- Passing on clinical referrals and messages to the district nurse team and community matron.
· Ensuring all letters, reports, results etc are scanned and filed promptly and in the correct patient records, ensuring that all recent correspondence is available when patients are seen.
- To provide cover for members of the reception/administration team, during periods of sickness and annual leave.
- Any other duties deemed reasonable by the Senior Receptionist, Practice Manager or Doctors.
Premises:
· When last to leave at the end of the day, ensure that the building is totally secured.

- In the course of seeking treatment, patients entrust us with, or allow us to gather, sensitive information in relation to their health and other matters. They do so in confidence and have the right to expect that staff will act appropriately.
- The post-holder may have access to confidential information relating to patients and their carers, practice staff and other healthcare workers. They may also have access to information relating to the practice as a business organisation. All such information from any source is to be regarded as strictly confidential.
- Information relating to patients, carers, colleagues, other healthcare workers or the business of the practice may only be divulged to authorised persons in accordance with the practice policies and procedures relating to confidentiality and the protection of personal and sensitive data.

The post-holder will assist in promoting and maintaining their own and others’ health, safety and security as defined in the practice Health & Safety Policy, to include:
- Identifying the risks involved in work activities and undertaking such activities in a way that manages those risks
- Making effective use of training to update knowledge and skills

- Report potential risks identified.

- The successful candidate will be DBS (previously CRB) checked prior to commencing work.
