Job Overview
We are looking for a Machine Setter to join our team at Hydropac.
This hands-on role is critical to ensuring the smooth running of our in-house machinery and production. You will be responsible for setting up production machinery, ensuring products meet specification, replenishment of raw materials, repairing and maintaining the production equipment.
This role requires knowledge of mechanical equipment, machine setup, identifying issues and problem-solving to support production efficiency and equipment reliability.
If production constraints demand this role may be required to act as a machine operator to package products and assist with the general operation of the production and warehouse teams.
Training will be given on the operation & setup of equipment, ancillary equipment, operative role and warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities and Objectives
Machine Setting:
· Setup of manufacturing equipment and changeover of tooling for varying products.
· Adjust equipment where necessary to ensure product remains within specification.
· Changeover of raw materials, films and filling liquids.
· Routine replacement of wearable parts.
Machine Maintenance & Repairs:
· Diagnose and repair faults on production machinery ensuring minimal downtime.
· Conduct routine preventative maintenance to machinery to extend its lifespan, prevent downtime and ensure optimal performance.
· Assist with electrical troubleshooting to resolve issues quickly.
· General housekeeping, re-stocking consumables and reporting defects.
Such Equipment Includes:
· Mechanical systems: guide bars, slide ways, rotary bearings
· Pneumatic systems: valve islands, cylinders, flow restrictors, regulators, diaphragm pumps
· Basic electrical controls: switches, relays, contactors, mini-PLC, solenoids, motors
· Impulse and constant heat sealing
· Film unwinding, take-up & tension units
· Water processing equipment, liquid mixers and distribution pipework
Key Skills & Experience:
· Setup and adjustment of production equipment.
· Mechanical repairs, identifying and replacing damaged components.
· Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach to maintenance.
· A background in mechanics or engineering.
· Keen to learn new skills and actively pursue improvements.
· Ability to self-motivate and work as a team.
· Knowledge of health & safety regulations and best practices in a manufacturing environment.
· Fluent in English language.
Key Objectives for the Role:
· Minimise downtime by ensuring efficient machine setup and product changeover.
· Ensure product meets specification and adjust accordingly when required.
· Maintain machinery and carry out repairs efficiently.
· Improve equipment reliability through proactive maintenance and effective troubleshooting.
· Support continuous improvement, working with the engineers and production team suggesting and implementing process enhancements.
· Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
· Assisting the production and warehouse teams when required.
Advantageous:
· Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, mechanical drawings, electrical drawings, PLC ladder logic.
· Electrical fault finding
· Experience with impulse and constant heat-sealing systems
· Conversant in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £27,000.00-£35,000.00 per year
