You’ll need a full driving license and have access to your own vehicle for this Live-in Carer role, as our clients live in the community.
Duties
- This is a daytime live-in role supporting a woman with a C3 spinal injury. She uses a suprapubic catheter, needs support with bowel care, and has a solid routine in place including physiotherapy sessions and hydro pool time. Her home is well-equipped with a lift, hoist, and powered wheelchair—and she knows exactly how she likes things done. You’ll be supporting with:
- Personal care in a respectful, calm way
She’s after carers who are friendly, consistent, and understand the importance of getting things right without taking over. Female carers only for this one, please.
- Hoisting, repositioning, and general mobility support
- Catheter and bowel care (full training provided)
- Helping with meals, light household tasks, and being around if her husband needs a hand
- Going along to appointments or community outings
- Keeping an eye on blood pressure and oxygen levels when needed
Experience
- Previous experience in home care or a similar caregiving role is preferred but not essential.
- Familiarity with care home settings and understanding of care plans is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills in English are required to effectively interact with clients and their families.
- A valid driving licence is necessary for transporting clients as part of the caregiving duties.
