About the Role:
We are looking for an experienced Legal Secretary to join our dynamic and growing Private Client Department. You will provide vital administrative support to our fee earners, assisting in areas such as wills and probate, trusts administration, and other private client matters.
As a key member of a team of 10, led by our Head of Department Andrew Hasnip, you’ll be working in a collaborative environment where we’re committed to providing excellent service to our clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide full secretarial support to fee earners, including diary management, document preparation, and client liaison.
- Dictation typing and preparing correspondence, documents, and forms.
- Assist in the administration of wills, probate, and trusts, ensuring compliance with legal processes.
- Manage correspondence, filing, and maintaining client records.
- Handle telephone and email inquiries from clients and external parties.
Requirements:
- Proven 1-2 years’ experience as a Legal Secretary within Private Client department.
- Excellent typing skills, able to quickly and accurately process legal documents, including correspondence and bills, from manuscript or digital dictation, with minimal supervision.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize a busy workload.
- Experience of Tikit (or similar case management system) and BigHand dictation would be advantageous but not essential.
- Good telephone manner; able to take messages from new and existing clients on the telephone with accuracy and pass on in a timely manner.
- Excellent IT skills with the ability to pick up new systems quickly.
- Displays a can-do, positive attitude to work, and a high degree of self-management.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a professional telephone manner.
- A keen eye for detail and a high level of accuracy in all work.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and independently.
