Job Title: Leadership Academy CPD Programme Lead
Salary: The starting salary is £59,839, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £56,911 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £69,342. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.
Location: Central London locations, Hendon, Marlowe House, NSY and potentially other locations across the MPS.
In line with A New Met for London to develop a strong cohort of leaders, the Commissioner has made a commitment to help set our leaders up to succeed by ensuring a leadership development programme for all leaders every year.
This will be delivered through the New Leadership Academy providing a contemporary and impactful learning offer to our leaders.
The roles holder will take the lead for teaching quality and delegate experience across the Met Leadership Academy. Responsible for driving high standards of teaching and learning across academy portfolio of learning. Lead on facilitator and staff development, quality assurance (including internal and external audits and inspections), and ensuring all teaching practices align with latest research and industry best practice. This includes the design and delivery of the Leadership Academy Train the Trainer course and associated scheduling and resource acquisition.

Knowledge
- Expert knowledge/understanding of leadership models and practical application for personal growth with demonstrable expertise in learning design methodologies, adult learning principles, and learning technologies relevant to leadership training.
- Expert knowledge of Ofsted frameworks and industry quality inspection processes.
- Expert knowledge of internal and external audit processes and requirements.
- Knowledge of learning and organisational development and experience of delivering QA products within a professional environment.
- Knowledge of leadership programmes and curriculum, notably how this aligns to the wider organisational strategy.
- Experience in leading and delivering high-quality CPD and staff training.
- Knowledge of learning programme / curriculum development including assessment strategies and assessment specifications.
Skills
Lead (providing leadership and assurance of this skill):
- A proven track record of managing high profile programmes of work; using risk management appropriately and planning and developing relationships with key stakeholders. Managing links and dependencies between complex and interrelated issues.
- Ability to provide learning programmes aligned to immediate and long-term business requirements that demonstrate return on investment and impact.
- Proficiency in understanding how learning management systems (LMS), authoring tools, and multimedia development software can enhance design processes.
Master (highest level of skill, operating as MPS lead in this area):
- Quality Assurance.
- Quality Improvement.
- Quality Governance.
Advanced (highly competent in this skill and could train others):
- Teaching and training facilitation.
- L&D / Leadership Programme continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of L&D tools and systems.
- Assess and anticipate risk and escalate as needed.
- Presentation and facilitation skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Must be highly proficient with Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint.
Intermediate (executes the skill competently with minimal supervision):
- Creative thinking.
- Business writing.
Qualifications
- MSc or equivalent qualification in Education, Learning & Development, or a related field.
- Strong experience in project/programme management related to learning initiatives – ideally with formal project management training (e.g., Prince2, Agile) or similar.
- L4 IQA from a recognised body (e.g., C&G).
- L3 AET (minimum) / L5 DET / PGCE (desirable).
- Certified Quality Auditor or equivalent (Desirable).
- Membership of a professional body like CMI, IoL, CIPD, or equivalent is preferable.
Experience
- Significant experience in improving teaching and learning in an adult educational setting.
- Significant experience in preparing for, and leading academies (or similar) through internal and external audits and inspections.
- Proven track record of raising standards in teaching and student achievement.
- Experience in coaching and mentoring teachers / learning professionals.
- Experience of operating on peer-to-peer basis at senior level - providing guidance, insight, and advice across a broad range of business-related matters.
- High levels of strategic awareness, driven, forward thinking and able to communicate with high levels of confidence at a senior level across the breadth of our key internal and external stakeholder groups, including Management Board and senior leaders within the Met.
