Classroom Assistant – Kumon St Helens
Are you an experienced, mature professional with a passion for working with children? Kumon St Helens is seeking a dedicated Classroom Assistant to join our team. About the role:
Part-time position, 2-3 shifts per week (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) Must be available to work all 3 days.
Class hours typically run between 3:30 pm and 7:00 pm, with some flexibility for start and finish times for the right candidate
Support learning activities, assist with classroom management, and engage with students
Work directly with children to support their development across literacy and numeracy
Provide feedback to parents at the end of each class
Analyse student work and help set individualized learning plans
Support phonics and reading development, handwriting and pencil control skills
Embed foundational maths skills such as addition, subtraction, times tables, multiplication, division, fractions, and algebra
Attend 4 staff training Saturdays per year
Must be able to work during school holiday periods
The centre is closed for 2 weeks at Christmas, 2 weeks at Easter, and 2 weeks over the 6-week summer holiday
Proficiency in Tamil is highly desirable to effectively support our Sri Lankan families.
Ideal candidates will have:
Previous experience working with children in an educational capacity, such as a teaching assistant, tutor, breakfast/after-school club supervisor, or midday supervisor
A mature, professional attitude with strong organisational, time management, and administrative skills
Excellent English and Maths skills; knowledge of phonics is advantageous
Comfort with using technology, including apps and tablets
A genuine enjoyment of working with children and supporting their development
