Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Kitchen Porter to join our culinary team. The Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. This position involves supporting chefs and kitchen staff by maintaining cleanliness, assisting with food preparation, and ensuring that all kitchen equipment is in good working order. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the hospitality industry and a willingness to learn.
Duties
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, pots, and pans
- Assist with food preparation tasks as directed by chefs, including chopping vegetables and preparing ingredients
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and stored properly after use
- Support chefs during service by providing assistance as needed
- Dispose of waste in accordance with health and safety regulations
- Help maintain stock levels of kitchen supplies and report any shortages to management
- Adhere to food safety standards and hygiene practices at all times
Skills
- Previous experience in a restaurant or hotel kitchen environment is advantageous
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
- A passion for culinary arts and a desire to develop skills within the hospitality sector
- Understanding of health and safety regulations related to food handling
