Overview
Neighbourhood is seeking a kitchen assistant to join our team in Chester.
This position is responsible for following directions from main line chef for food preparation and service at Neighbourhood .

Neighbourhood is a Mediterranean Restaurant serving pizza, Pasta, salads, homemade pies, desserts & brunch at the weekend with weekly specials on Northgate street Chester
We hold Live Jazz evenings and hold private events regularly, will involve serving buffet for parties
Also involved in preparation of our evening menu- from roast meats / vegan produce / homemade sauces / attention to detail is upmost important, presentation of food is key
The role involves working shifts across the week, we are open Monday - Sunday
daytime only on Sunday / Mon
lunch - Evenings Wed-Sunday
Experience following all food safety requirements is of paramount importance from HACCP / COSHH/ food safety practices etc
The successful candidate should be :

> have a create flair and attention to detail
> able to accept direction and instruction professionally
> follow HACCP and COSHH protocol
> keen eye for keeping kitchen cleanliness standards very high
> a strong team player
previous experience working in a fast paced kitchen is important, orders for sitting in mainly on a walk in basis so can get very busy.
previous experience working under pressure and with time restraints is crucial

Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to established recipes and standards.
- Ensure all food safety and hygiene regulations are strictly adhered to in the kitchen.
- Assist in the planning of menus and meal preparation, contributing ideas for new dishes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including proper storage of ingredients.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth operation during service times.
- Monitor inventory levels and assist with ordering supplies as needed.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Cook in a restaurant or similar environment is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen operations.
- Excellent culinary skills with an ability to prepare diverse cuisines.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- A passion for cooking and willingness to learn new techniques is essential.
