Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will support the kitchen staff in food preparation and ensure that the kitchen operates smoothly. This role is essential for maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene while assisting in meal preparation and service.
Duties
- Assist in the preparation of meals according to established recipes and guidelines.
- Support chefs with cooking tasks, including chopping, slicing, and mixing ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen, including washing dishes and cleaning surfaces.
- Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to, including proper storage and handling of ingredients.
- Assist with catering events as required, ensuring timely service and presentation of dishes.
- Help with inventory management by checking stock levels and reporting shortages to senior staff.
- Serve meals to customers or staff as needed, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance culinary skills and knowledge of food safety practices.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen environment or restaurant is preferred.
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and culinary practices is an advantage.
- Familiarity with catering services is beneficial but not essential.
- Strong understanding of food safety standards and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards learning from others.
