About the role
Market Risk plays a key role in controlling and supporting the trading activities of RWE Supply & Trading. This includes providing the Board with unbiased, comprehensive, accurate and timely market risk and performance information. The team uses its knowledge and expertise to provide advice to senior management, traders, Accounting, Controlling, and other stakeholders, ensuring our business remains compliant and successful.
Risk Controlling Swindon is responsible for the risk management of the Asia-Pacific, Atlantic Trading & Maritime, Biofuels, Dry Bulk Origination, UK Trading and Quantitative Trading desks.
Your day to day activities will generally include:
- Analyze and communicate trading desk strategies and profitability.
- Ensure traders operate within established guidelines.
- Prepare reports for the Board and senior stakeholders on key risks and P&L changes.
- Conduct valuation and risk assessment of new products.
- Stay updated on market developments and regularly brief the team and stakeholders.
- Engage in business projects and initiatives.
- Participate in diverse risk management projects across the organization.
- Proactively develop your skills and enhance team capabilities in alignment with business needs.
Job requirements and experiences
We are looking for someone who is motivated and enthusiastic, with a desire to understand our business. Other qualities we look for include:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in a science-related field.
- Disciplined and organized, capable of meeting tight deadlines with attention to detail.
- Aptitude for quick thinking and solving complex problems.
- Willingness to challenge and enhance existing processes.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong numerical, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
- Interest in commodity trading.
- Knowledge of IT skills such as SQL, Python, and Tableau, with a strong desire to learn and grow.
Advantageous, but not essential
- Previous experience in a market risk role, preferably within a commodity trading environment.
- Basic understanding of trading and risk management principles.
- Understanding of markets and products traded by our desks.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of specialized IT systems and software, particularly OpenLink Endur and MicroStrategy.
