University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust
Southampton, England
Full time
University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is delighted to offer a fantastic opportunity to work with us.

This is a FIXED TERM Contract with the position commencing in the month of September 2025.

Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

You will be a member of a team of 5 vascular foundation-level doctors. The post is based at University Hospital Southampton (UHS) on ward D4. UHS is the vascular centre of the WESSEX Vascular Network. The Network includes Queen Alexandra Hospital (Portsmouth), St. Mary’s Hospital (IOW), Royal Hampshire County Hospital (Winchester) and serves a population of 2 million. The vascular service works closely with cardiothoracic, diabetic and stroke services.

The department provides the full range of open vascular and endovascular interventions, with a dedicated vascular theatre, hybrid suite, vascular ward and a team of advanced nurse practitioners and vascular nurse specialists. UHS offers ample opportunities for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and excellent facilities for research and clinical care.

As one of the largest acute teaching Trusts in England, we offer learning and development opportunities to help you achieve the career you aspire to. UHS is rated ‘Good’ by the CQC and in the latest national NHS Staff Survey, we were in the top 10 acute trusts for staff engagement and for staff recommending the hospital as a place to work or receive care.

We support flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. UHS employees are able to access a range of NHS discounts, are entitled to a minimum of 35 days paid holiday (pro rata), and we offer a generous pension scheme.

Southampton is an attractive place to live and work situated on the south coast, with an international airport and direct trains to London. The New Forest National Park and beaches of the Jurassic coast are also right on our doorstep. The city offers living costs 20% lower than London and 14 schools rated outstanding by Ofsted.

There will be minor variations but the list is aimed at covering the majority of duties:
1. Day-to-day management of patients both pre and post operatively handing over the medical night team daily.
2. Liaise between nurses, Doctors, patients, relatives and senior medical staff.

9. Undertake audit at various times throughout the rotations.
We are looking to appoint a well-motivated junior doctor, keen to learn and benefit from this experience. Our department has a culture of being open and supportive of its team members.
