Jacksons is part of William Jackson Food Group, a sixth-generation family business founded by William Jackson when he opened his first shop in Hull in September 1851. Today we have a portfolio of five food businesses in distinct, yet complimentary market areas, employing over 2,000 people.
We have occupied the current site in Hull since 1907 and we now have 3 bread plants in our main bakery. We recently developed a second bakery, also at our site in Hull, which specialises in premium quality roll production. We specialise in the supply of bread and other carriers to the sandwich manufacturers, foodservice and export channels, and in 2012 we launched our consumer facing brand Jacksons of Yorkshire.

Job Summary
This role is designed to support the business as our growth plans become reality. The Junior Buyer Directs will support our Senior Buyer and Head of Procurement in managing our raw material and packaging categories to garner best value and quality for the bakery. Bringing tenacity and professionalism to the business, they will have accountability for some of the smaller spends within the business including NPD.
Key Areas of Responsibility
Support in the management of smaller category spends utilising a strategic, measured but fast paced approach, with potential to work on larger categories as skillset develops
Develop robust relationships with the right suppliers to ensure the best commercial terms and conditions are agreed
Support internal stakeholders with new product development and source new suppliers that will be able to support our growth
Ensure robust category strategies are developed for spend areas whilst supporting on the day-to-day activities of the Senior Buyers categories
Ensure all categories are in line with the business ethical procurement and sustainable sourcing policy
Visit suppliers and industry conferences when required to build relationships and category knowledge
Support cost optimisation projects
Continually push Jacksons contractual terms compliance across the supply base
Identify potential supply issues and take appropriate action to avoid their occurrence
Ensure financial due diligence is carried out and relevant actions are taken
Support with weekly and monthly reporting including progress against our financial and sustainability targets
Support other procurement categories as and when required

Qualifications and Experience
CIPS qualified - desirable but not required
Experience from an FMCG background
Degree in Procurement or Supply Chain - desirable but not required
Min 1 year experience

Monday - Friday, 37.5 Hours per week
