The Prospering Place is a social care provider aiming to deliver high-quality person-centred specialist support.
We are recruiting for a Responsible Individual for our EBD therapeutic children's Home in Ashford Surrey on a 14 month interim basis for around 15 hours a week.
This role is an exciting opportunity which will give the ideal candidate the opportunity to be part of our team to provide support to the staff team and four children at our warm and nurturing home.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership, Governance Staff Support
- Ensure all legal and regulatory responsibilities for operating the home are fully met.
- Provide effective oversight, supervision, and professional challenge to the registered
Manager.
•Collaborating closely with the Registered Managers and providing direct reports to the Directors.
•Ensure that the Registered Manager is appropriately supported, supervised and developed in their role.
•Promote a positive organizational culture based on safeguarding trauma informed and
therapeutic care principles.
•Support the recruitment, training and development of the staff team, ensuring high quality care and compliance with safer recruitment standards.
•Encouraging and supporting the professional development of staff
Quality of Care
- Ensure every child receives care that aligns with the home’s Statement of Purpose and
Children’s Guide.
- Monitor and evaluate care delivery against the Quality Standards, identifying and
addressing any gaps.
Regulatory, Compliance & Monitoring
- Ensure the home remains compliant with all relevant legislation, regulations, and
Ofsted requirements.
- Oversee and analyse Regulation 44 and 45 reports, Ofsted inspection findings, and
local authority feedback to drive improvement.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in law, guidance, and best practice
- Act as the Responsible Individual with Ofsted, ensuring the home remains
compliant with all regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a thorough understanding of relevant regulations, including the Children’s
Homes Regulations, Working Together to Safeguard Children and Ofsted’s Social Care
Inspection Framework (SCCIF).
- Oversee and ensure all health and safety requirements are met and maintained
- Oversee and support the Registered Manager to ensure the home meets or exceeds
Ofsted expectations, with the goal of achieving and maintaining “Good” or
“Outstanding” inspection outcomes.
- Develop and maintain operational policies and procedures in accordance with current
legislation and best practices.
Stakeholder Engagement and Continuous Improvement
- Develop and implement a Service Development Plan with clear improvement targets
and measurable outcomes.
- Ensure all staff are appropriately qualified, trained, and engaged in ongoing
Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Evaluate the effectiveness of staff training and promote a learning culture.
- Represent the home in professional meetings, ensuring the voice of the child is central
in all decision-making.
Operational Oversight
- Support the recruitment, induction, and performance management of staff, including
handling capability, discipline, and grievance processes.
- Ensure placement matching is carefully managed to maintain stability and meet the
needs of each child.
- Ensure homes are fully prepared and ready for regular Ofsted inspections.
- Ensure the home operates in a way that places the wellbeing, voice and aspirations of the child at the heart of decision making.
Safeguarding
- Take lead accountability for safeguarding across the service, ensuring policies and
procedures are robust, understood and followed at all levels.
•Ensure that safeguarding concerns are appropriately reported, investigated and responded to in line with best practices and statutory guidance.
Job requirements
· At least 3 years in a role supervising and/or managing staff
· Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) or equivalent
. Minimum of 1 year experience previously working as an RI
. Willingness to work on a temporary role for 1 year only
