Laker Vent Engineering Ltd is a mechanical contractor operating within the engineering construction industry. We specialise in the installation of highly regulated process piping systems, serving blue chip clients across the Power & Energy, Pharmaceutical, and Petrochemical industries.
Role Overview:
We are currently seeking an experienced Instrument Pipefitter to join our team on an ongoing construction project based in Thurrock.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation and Assembly – Fit and install assemble various instruments and control systems on machinery and equipment including tubing & piping systems, fixtures , gauges and control devices.
- Read and interpret blueprints and schematics in order to determine pipe layouts and specifications
- Cut, bend, and shape pipes according to the needs of the project, using various tools and techniques
- Install and maintain various types of instruments, including gauges, sensors, and flow meters
- Ensure proper alignment and positioning of pipes and instruments, and make any necessary adjustments
- Perform pressure tests and other quality control measures to ensure proper functioning of pipes and instruments
- Collaborate with other members of the construction team, including engineers and electricians, to ensure proper installation and functioning of pipes and instruments
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following established procedures for handling hazardous materials.
Requirements
- Experience in instrument pipefitting in industrial settings
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints
- Familiarity with various types of piping materials and their properties
- Proficiency in using hand tools and power tools for pipefitting
- Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to pipefitting
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team
- Excellent communication skills and ability to follow instructions accurately
Qualifications
- Level 3 Trade Apprenticeship or equivalent.
- ACE Card or recognised industry equivalent.
- CCNSG Safety Passport, CSCS or equivalent certification.
- Proven experience in a similar role within a highly regulated industry.
Rates & Allowances:
Contract Type: PAYE
NAECI Categorised Rates (2025) - Grade 5
- Basic: £22.44/hr
- Rate A: £31.42/hr
- Rate B: £40.39/hr
- Overtime paid after 8 hours daily
- Hourly Bonus: £2.37/hr
- Additional £2.00/hr loyalty payment
- Travel & Fares: Paid as per NAECI guidelines
- Lodge - £80/night (taxable over £50.81)
Working Hours (2-week rota):
Week 1:
- Mon: 8 hrs
- Tue-Fri: 11.5 hrs/day
- Sat-Sun: 8 hrs/day
Week 2:
- Mon-Wed: 11.5 hrs/day
- Thurs: 8 hrs/day
- Fri-Sun: OFF
