Your opportunity
As the strategic lead for BKL’s ‘It’s Business, But Better’ ESG programme, you will oversee the design, execution, and continuous improvement of the firm’s ESG strategy. This includes aligning ESG priorities with business objectives, embedding sustainability into BKL’s culture and operations, and acting as a key adviser to the Board on ESG risk, opportunity, and innovation. You will drive cross-functional engagement, build external partnerships, and ensure BKL’s position as a forward-thinking, responsible business is maintained and enhanced. We would be open to considering a part-time candidate for this role.
How you’ll make a difference
As Impact Project Manager, you’ll enhance our company’s project execution by closely monitoring project performance and providing vital guidance to managers. You’ll focus on tracking performance metrics to keep projects in line with our strategic objectives, while proactively managing risk and resource dependencies to keep projects on track.
Clear communication and strong leadership will underpin your reporting to senior leaders and other stakeholders, fostering transparency and accountability and adding value for the team.
You will:
- Provide strategic leadership across BKL to implement and evolve the ESG strategy in line with business growth and stakeholder expectations.
- Act as a trusted adviser to the Board, delivering evidence-based insights and recommendations that influence business decision-making.
- Lead the firm’s B Corp agenda, including recertification, performance benchmarking, and continuous improvement aligned with impact goals.
- Champion and embed an ESG culture by shaping leadership behaviours, processes, and policies that support long-term value creation.
- Represent BKL with external stakeholders (e.g. B Lab UK, regulatory bodies, ESG partners), amplifying the firm’s impact and reputation.
- Oversee the development of data architecture and impact measurement frameworks to track ESG progress, risk, and value generation.
- Direct the creation of annual ESG communications, including the Impact Report and firmwide engagement campaigns.
- Partner with the Marketing, People and Technology teams to deliver ESG-specific learning programmes and communication strategies.
- Take ownership of the firm’s ESG governance framework, ensuring policy compliance, stakeholder alignment, and risk mitigation.
- Maintain oversight of ESG project portfolios, ensuring alignment with strategic outcomes and efficient resource deployment.
You will be ideal for this role if you have:
- Proven experience in leading cross-functional change programmes, ideally with an ESG, sustainability, or responsible business focus.
- Adept at influencing senior stakeholders and translating complex ESG challenges into strategic opportunities.
- Experience working at Board level and presenting insights that shape organisational direction.
- Strong commercial acumen with an understanding of how ESG creates competitive advantage, mitigates risk, and attracts talent.
- Excellent communicator with the ability to inspire action, build coalitions, and adapt style to engage diverse audiences.
- Analytical and data-driven, with strong project governance and performance management capabilities
Technical qualifications
You do not need to have prior experience of ESG, sustainability or B Corp though this would be an advantage.
