ANGLE is a world-leading liquid biopsy company commercialising a patent protected platform technology that can capture rare circulating tumour cells (CTCs) from blood, in a minimally invasive way, for downstream analysis.
ANGLE's Parsortix® system is FDA cleared for its intended use in metastatic breast cancer and is currently the first and only FDA cleared medical device to harvest intact circulating cancer cells from blood. Parsortix technology comprises a microfluidic device that captures CTCs from blood based on their size and compressibility. CTCs are cancer cells that have detached from the primary tumour and entered the blood circulation, and they play a critical role in initiating metastasis. Once harvested, the CTCs can be comprehensively analysed to provide a wealth of information about the patients tumour, advancing cancer research and potentially personalized medicine. This technology has the potential to deliver profound improvements in clinical and health economic outcomes.
ANGLE has established a CTC harvest and analysis service from our UK-based Clinical Laboratory based in Guildford for customers worldwide. In alignment with company priorities, we plan to rapidly expand our services to include molecular profiling of CTCs and ctDNA using digital PCR and NGS to add to our image-based assays.

This is an exciting time at ANGLE and our team in Guildford are looking for a Human Tissue Act Consultant to join the team on a contract basis for 2-3 days per week or a fixed term contract for 3-6 months.

Principal Accountabilities:
- Ensure that suitable practices are used in the course of carrying out the HTA licenced activity.
- Establish relevant procedures and ensure on-going compliance with the HT Act and the HTA Codes of Practice.
- Undertake the key role in obtaining and maintaining the HTA licence via the Human Tissue Authority.
- Ensure that persons working under the licence are suitably trained and responsible.
- Ensure that the conditions of the licence and third-party agreements are complied with and that all information relating to licensable activities is available for tracing donations is current, accurate and held securely.
- Ensure the safe retrieval, storage, distribution and use of all human tissue is in accordance with the HTA regulation for the purpose of research.
- Present evidence of HT Act compliance during regulatory inspections by the Human Tissue Authority.
- Advise and inform relevant stakeholders of the HT Act relating to new research projects.
- Identify suitable individuals for the role of Person(s) Designated (PD) for both the ANGLE main site and satellite site.
- Notify the Human Tissue Authority of any serious adverse events within 24 hours of discovery.
- Approve documented risk assessments and continency plans related to the human tissue and the requirements of the HT Act.
Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Attributes:
- A formal qualification for example Bachelor of Science in the fields of medical or biological sciences.
- Knowledge and understanding of the HT Act 2004 and the relevant Codes of Practice.
- Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as quality management systems.
- Completed relevant HTA training activities.
- Have at least two years practical experience which is directly relevant to the licenced activity.
- Maintain professional development activities in this area and attend any mandatory training as required.
- An eye for detail and commitment to high quality data.
- A flexible, can-do approach to the requirements of the job.
Job Requirements:
Due to the nature of the role, our requirement is for this position to be Guildford based, with flexibility to work from home at the discretion of the Manager.
This role requires 20% of a FTE role to undertake the responsibilities of the DI.
