Job Description: Housekeeping supervisor/Duty manager
Are you an experienced and enthusiastic housekeeping supervisor with a passion for excellent guest service? We are a family-run, independent hotel with a friendly working environment, looking for a reliable and dedicated Housekeeping supervisor/Duty manager to join our team. Our hotel is a modern, no-frills, technology-led property, with 41 newly refurbished rooms that are finished to a high standard.
About the Role:
As our Housekeeping supervisor/Duty manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of our hotel while maintaining high cleanliness and presentation standards. The job role will be for 32 hours per week.
You will be responsible for:
- Carrying out regular housekeeping duties, including room cleaning and tidying.
- Performing room checks to ensure all rooms meet our high standards.
- Managing and providing clear instructions to housekeeping staff, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
- Ordering and managing stock to ensure we have the necessary supplies for housekeeping duties.
- Interacting with guests in a friendly and professional manner, helping to ensure a smooth check-in and overall guest satisfaction.
- Using technology (iPads with forms and checklists) to manage daily tasks, report maintenance issues, and ensure operational efficiency.
- Working closely with other hotel departments, including the attached Scottish Stores Pub, to ensure all staff are aligned and working as one cohesive team.
- Being flexible and willing to cross-train in other roles, including tasks in our pub, to help maintain continuity during staff absences, sickness, and holidays.
Key Requirements:
- Strong timekeeping and reliability.
- A keen eye for detail and high standards of presentation.
- Good communication skills, including reading, writing, and speaking fluent English.
- Basic IT skills to operate iPads for checklists and reporting.
- Ability to self-manage while working well within a team.
- Polite, well-mannered, and professional when dealing with guests and colleagues.
- Flexibility in working hours and willingness to adapt to different duties as needed.
