About Us
We are a leading UPVC window and door company operating across Scotland, committed to quality, customer satisfaction, and continuous improvement. As we grow, we’re looking for an experienced and proactive Head of Technical / Surveying to lead our surveying operations, support multiple departments, and help develop our Northern branch.
Key Responsibilities
- Daily communication with surveyors to maintain consistency and accuracy.
- Work closely with the sales department to clarify technical queries and ensure clear, relevant information is shared.
- Check surveys against contracts to catch errors before processing (e.g., incorrect door specs, letterbox placement).
- Final review of surveys before production.
- Assess survey photos and flag issues such as render, plaster, or roughcast problems—communicating with customers or sales as needed.
- Conduct independent cost reviews of issues across departments (surveying, processing, manufacturing, fitting).
- Ensure scaffolding requirements are properly costed and proactively booked.
- Oversee costing and scheduling for knockouts and brick-up work.
- Promote cross-departmental harmony to avoid bottlenecks and support team progression.
- Lead weekly meetings with department heads (typically Thursdays) to report and coordinate.
- Assist with developing our North branch—recruiting and mentoring new surveyors and acting as the key link with central operations.
What We’re Looking For
- Strong experience in a technical or surveying leadership role within the window, glazing, or construction industry.
- Excellent communication skills—comfortable liaising across departments and with customers.
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Confident problem-solver who can take initiative and own issues from start to finish.
- Experience reviewing costs and managing operational budgets is preferred.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between locations.
Benefits
- Competitive salary based on experience
- Company vehicle or allowance (if applicable)
- Career development opportunities within a growing company
- A supportive and friendly work environment
