To deliver a comprehensive, professional risk-based health & safety and EPRR service to the Trust, promoting a positive Health and Safety culture and ensuring all activities are undertaken with the highest regard to the safety of patients, staff, visitors and contractors.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead Health and Safety and Emergency Planning within Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust.

We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced and committed individual to lead the ongoing implementation of our 5-year H&S strategy, working closely with service directorates to ensure the health and safety framework and a positive health and safety culture is embedded throughout our diverse high performing organisation.

You will lead a small team of health and safety and emergency planning experts advising and supporting managers and staff to ensure the highest standards of safety on a day-to-day basis across a diverse service portfolio with over 60 buildings ranging from in-patient mental health buildings to GP practices and including Queen Mary's Hospital Sidcup and a number of prison-based services.

Oxleas offers a wide range of NHS healthcare services to people in community and secure environment settings. Our services include community health care such as district nursing and speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and therapies. Our multidisciplinary teams look after people of all ages and we work in close partnership with other parts of the NHS, local councils and the voluntary sector and through our new provider collaboratives. Our 4,300 members of staff work in many different settings including hospitals, clinics, prisons, secure hospitals, children’s centres, schools and people’s homes.

We have over 125 sites in a variety of locations in the South of England. In London we operate within the Boroughs of Bexley, Bromley Greenwich and into Kent. We manage hospital sites including Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup and Memorial Hospital, Woolwich, as well as the Bracton Centre, our medium secure unit for people with mental health needs. We are the largest NHS provider of prison health services providing healthcare to prisons within Devon, Dorset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, Kent and South London. The successful candidate will have substantial H&S and EPRR experience in a designated H&S/EPRR role, have the skills to lead change within a complex and diverse organisation, and be able t o demonstrate the ability to work closely with senior leaders and staff from all professions.

Working within the Estates and Facilities Directorate you will be an excellent communicator, with the ability to assess risk and convey messages and data clearly, both verbally and in writing. Via the Chief Estates Officer, you will provide assurance to the Executive Team and Trust Board on issues related to health and safety and emergency planning.
