About the Role
We are looking for a commercially focused and hands-on Head of Finance to lead our financial strategy and operations. This is a senior leadership role with the opportunity to directly influence the future growth and success of the company.
As a trusted partner to the board, you will be responsible for the financial health of the organisation, overseeing all aspects of financial planning, reporting, budgeting, compliance, and performance management. You will also lead and develop a small but capable finance team, ensuring that the business operates with strong financial discipline and clear, actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Lead, manage, and develop the Finance team to support both day-to-day excellence and long-term growth.
- Collaborate closely with the board and senior leaders to shape and deliver the company’s financial strategy.
- Provide strategic financial input to support business planning and growth initiatives.
- Support the procurement and commercial teams in the development and negotiation of robust contracts.
Financial Management & Performance
- Own the budgeting, forecasting, and reporting cycles, ensuring accuracy and clarity at all levels.
- Monitor and report on the financial performance of the business, providing timely insights and recommendations.
- Implement and continuously improve financial controls, processes, and systems to drive operational efficiency and profitability.
- Deliver actionable financial reporting to the board, enabling confident decision-making.
Cash, Working Capital & Procurement
- Manage cash flow and working capital to support sustainable growth and operational stability.
- Develop cost management and procurement strategies to deliver best value and enhance profitability.
- Ensure that accounts receivable and payable are effectively managed and aligned with agreed targets (DSO/DPO).
Financial Reporting, Compliance & Audit
- Ensure full compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements.
- Lead the preparation of statutory accounts and coordinate all audit activities.
- Maintain strong relationships with external auditors, advisors, the bank and relevant regulatory bodies.
KPI Development & Performance Reporting
- Design and implement relevant financial KPIs and dashboards to monitor and improve business performance.
- Ensure financial reporting is insightful, forward-looking, and drives value-added decision-making across the business.
What We’re Looking For
- Significant experience in a senior finance leadership role, ideally within a growing SME or similar environment.
- A proven track record of driving financial performance, managing risk, and supporting strategic growth.
- Strong leadership and team development skills.
- A hands-on, solutions-focused approach with excellent commercial awareness.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities, including experience of working with boards.
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).

Pay: £70,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
