We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Apprenticeships and Business Development department as a HE Tutorial, Pastoral and Intervention Officer

As a Tutorial, Pastoral and Intervention Officer, you will support our students to succeed in gaining a professional qualification and develop their personal skills in a calm, friendly environment by ensuring a supportive and positive student experience.

Responsibilities include:

  • To deliver a tutorial schedule to allocated groups or individual students where appropriate.

  • To liaise with course tutors to undertake the student progress reviews and ensure departmental compliance with SPR targets.

  • To ensure departmental compliance with student survey completion and learner voice.

  • Ensure the complexities of our Ophthalmics department students are supported and that associated policies and statutory guidance are adhered to and understood across all areas of responsibility.

  • To support the Fitness to Practice procedure.

  • To work closely with the Support with Writing for Academic Progress Officer (SWAP).

  • Undertake proactive and reactive meetings with students to support them in their studies.

  • To liaise with the wider College Support Services to support students where appropriate.

  • To liaise with tutors to ensure students are meeting expected attendance targets.

  • To implement intervention strategies to improve attendance for individuals and the department as a whole.

Education & Training

  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

Experience

  • Experience with the complexities of Higher Education.

  • Experience working with HE students on a 1:1 and group basis to achieve their career goals in their chosen profession.

  • Experience working with students to improve behaviour and attitude to learning.
