Green Activities Coordinator
Location: Hargrave Hall Community Centre, Archway, London (N19)
Hours: 4 hours per week
Days: Fridays 1.30pm to 5.30pm
Salary: £14.75 per hour
Role Overview
We’re looking for an energetic and self-motivated person to lead fun, educational, and inclusive, green-themed activities at Hargrave Hall Community Centre. This role focuses on delivering engaging sessions that inspire curiosity about nature, sustainability, and the environment—especially among children and local adults.
Key Responsibilities
Adults’ Drop-In Group Club (Fridays 2pm to 3pm)
During the warmer months you will be in the garden and during coolers months in the centre
- Facilitate a relaxed drop-in group for adults interested in green living, sustainability, and community connection.
- Offer themed discussions, demonstrations, or skill-sharing (e.g. composting basics, seasonal plant tips, sustainable crafts).
- Encourage peer-to-peer learning and participation in a warm, informal setting.
Young People’s Drop-in group (Fridays 4pm to 5pm)
- Plan and lead exciting weekly sessions introducing children to green topics such as nature, seasons, recycling, sustainability, and the environment.
- Run creative indoor and outdoor activities (weather permitting), blending play with learning.
- Ensure activities are inclusive, age-appropriate, and in line with safeguarding best practice.
Programme Development & Coordination
- Design and evolve session content based on participant interests and feedback.
- Work closely with centre staff to ensure sessions are aligned with community needs.
- Keep simple attendance records and collect feedback to help improve sessions over time.
Person Specification
This is a self-led role, ideal for someone who enjoys working independently and bringing their own flair and ideas. We’re after someone who’s proactive, creative, and passionate about working with the community.
Essential:
Experience working with children or adults in a group setting
Confident leading sessions and adapting plans to suit the audience
Warm, friendly, and great at building rapport
Organised, self-sufficient, and enthusiastic
Comfortable using basic tech/social media to share updates
Desirable:
Knowledge or interest in sustainability, environmental education, or nature-based activities
Experience using creativity (e.g. arts, crafts, storytelling) to support learning
Experience working in a community or voluntary setting
