Basic duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Assist in the receipt, identification, and release of deceased individuals.
- Support in the preparation and embalming of the deceased (Under the guidance of qualified and trained personnel).
- Ensure respectful dressing, handling and preparation of bodies for viewing or transfer.
- Maintain accurate records and follow legal and procedural protocols.
- Clean and maintain mortuary equipment and areas to a high standard.
- Communicate professionally and sensitively with families, colleagues and healthcare staff.
- Attendance at funeral service’s acting as both bearer and support for the funeral director.
- Participate in ‘Out of Hours’ on-call rota. (Approximately 1 week in 4) (Enhanced rate of pay for on-call)
Candidates should:

- Physical fitness - the role requires prolonged periods on your feet and lifting of the deceased in line with health and safety protocols.

- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow procedures.
- Ability to work as part of a team and remain calm under pressure.
- Previous experience in healthcare, mortuary, or funeral services is desirable but not essential - training will be provided.
- Physically fit – Able to stand all day and undertake lifting of deceased in line with H & S arrangements.
- Full UK manual clean (Less than 6 points) driving licence. Driving company vehicles and for out of hours transfers when on-call.
- Live within a 25-minute radius of LL11 6AG.
- Be competent in literacy and numeracy.
