Job Purpose
We are a family-owned close-knit property company responsible for a portfolio of mixed-use upscale commercial and residential properties, with a strong focus on heritage buildings located in Central London. We are seeking a reliable and multi-skilled maintenance technician with a core strength in painting and decorating to join our team. This is a hands-on role that requires a high standard of workmanship, particularly in sensitive heritage and residential environments. The successful candidate will also support routine building checks, utility meter readings, contractor liaison, and various maintenance tasks as directed by the Head of Facilities Management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
General Maintenance & Building Checks
- Perform regular building inspections to identify and address minor repairs or maintenance issues. Where practical, undertake minor repairs yourself.
- Respond to ad hoc maintenance requests across the portfolio from the Head of Facilities Management, ensuring issues are dealt with promptly and professionally.
- Carry out high-quality painting and decorating across a range of central London properties as directed by the Head of Facilities Management.
- Ensure aesthetic integrity and preservation of period features where applicable.
- Assist in arranging access for external contractors and liaising on-site during works.
- Support the Head of Facilities Management in gathering quotes and scoping small works.
- Monitor contractor performance and escalate any concerns.
1. Accurately record and report utility meter readings (electricity, gas, water) for multiple sites on
a regular basis.
Additional Duties
- Provide hands-on support for a variety of property maintenance tasks.
- Undertake other responsibilities as directed by the Head of Facilities Management in line with the needs of the business.
- Understand that the role involves liaison with key customers and that you will be the face of our company in such interactions.
Candidate's profile
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Background in painting and decorating.
- Practical, hands-on approach with general building maintenance experience.
- Comfortable working independently across different sites in Central London.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for dealing with tenants and contractors.
- Organised, punctual, and committed to high standards of workmanship. Willing to go the ‘extra mile’
- Understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Experience working with heritage or listed buildings.
- Trade qualification.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, electrics and building systems a plus.
