The Metal Staircase Co is a team of dedicated creatives and craftsmen who started life in the industry with a dream to design and supply only the most innovative staircases. In realising that dream that we are where we are today, providing inspirational products for the discerning homeowner. Our product is bespoke, premium, and design focused.
We are setting up our new in-house workshop and are looking for a talented, experienced fabricator, proficient in MIG and TIG welding techniques. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in high end architectural metal work and be capable of reading fabrication drawings, working on own initiative, and working well with a team. This is a unique opportunity to shape how our workshop operates from day one, working with a company that places craftsmanship and quality at the heart of everything we do.
Responsibilities
- Fabricate custom staircases and components from detailed fabrication drawings.
- TIG/MIG welding, cutting, shaping, and finishing of material.
- Fabricate and assemble metal structures, including staircases, balustrades, and secondary steelwork (in factory dry fit).
- Maintain the highest standards of precision, quality, and finish.
- Help develop workshop procedures and contribute to a high-quality production environment.
- Maintain a clean and organised work area
- Collaborate with the team to meet project deadlines and clients’ expectations.
- Conduct quality checks to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
- Able to guide and support junior fabricators, delegate tasks as needed, and make sure work is done properly and on time, following project plans and quality standards
- Feedback to the drawing office.
- Follow all safety guidelines and protocols
What We’re Looking For
- Strong, proven experience in architectural or bespoke metal fabrication.
- Proficient in various welding techniques (MIG & TIG)
- High level of welding with good penetration and finishing skill.
- Ability to interpret and work from fabrication drawings.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and craftsmanship.
- Self-motivated and reliable, able to work with minimal supervision.
- Strong sense of pride in your work and a passion for quality.
- FLT licence an advantage.
