The Company
We’re Octopus Legacy: one of the fastest growing tech companies in the country, part of the UK’s most exciting and best-trusted group (you may have heard of some of our sister companies…) and we have a mission.
We’re on a path to scale, aiming to become a household name while transforming a long-established industry and helping our customers prepare for, and find support after, death.
But we can’t do it alone, and that’s why we’re assembling a team of top performers to build with us.
Ready to be part of something big?
The Role
Estate planning takes a holistic approach to planning ahead for death - it involves putting together financial, legal and emotional back-up plans ahead of time. This includes writing a will, lasting power of attorney, life insurance and more.
We’re hiring more team members now to help support us with our rapidly growing client base. More broadly speaking, our estate planners help existing customers who have started one of our online products, but require extra support via the phone, email and occasionally in-person.
Either way, you’ll work collaboratively with our legal team to offer expert support and a best in class service. You’ll ensure that our customers leave any interaction feeling valued and cared for with jargon-free, tailored support.
This role will help you build a foundation in sales, develop expertise in the estate planning industry and learn how to offer a differentiated service to customers in their time of need. As only the third member of this team there is an opportunity to mould the role, and develop into a leadership role as the team grows.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively engage with clients who have shown an interest in our products and to address any barriers to them completing their purchase.
- Maintain a deep industry knowledge, as well as relevant financial and legal topics, in order to effectively assist clients and answer their inquiries.
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients via phone, email, and other communication channels, while demonstrating empathy and understanding for their unique situations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, including notes and follow-up actions, using our CRM system.
- Collaborate with the estate planning team and other departments to ensure a seamless client experience and resolve any complex issues.
- Achieve individual and team targets for customer engagement and conversion, while maintaining the highest standards of client service.
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve the process and enhance the client experience.
Who Are You?
You want to work at a startup and you’ll thrive in a fast paced environment. You have a personal growth mentality, with a hunger to learn. Autonomy doesn't scare you, and being self-sufficient and happy to come up with solutions to problems on your own is attractive to you.
- 2+ years experience.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly and sensitively, with a natural ability to build rapport and trust with customers.
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and a commitment to continuous improvement.
- A team player who is willing to go above and beyond to deliver an exceptional experience for clients.
- Ideally, you’ll have experience achieving targets and driving customer engagement.
- Have buckets of energy and are eager to learn.
Our Mission
In 2016 Sam’s mum died suddenly in a car accident. The experience that followed was overwhelming - with mountains of paperwork, sitting on hold and navigating financial stress. All at a time when he needed the space to navigate grief.
Death is difficult enough, without everything else that comes with it. Octopus Legacy was created to make the experience of losing someone easier for those left behind - so that they can focus on what matters.
Since then we have helped over 700,000 people plan for death and find support after a loss and are now the second largest estate planner in the UK.
When people think about planning for death they think about wills, life insurance and funerals. These small but mighty acts make a huge difference to the people we love. But why stop there?
We take these cold processes and turn them into something more human. We help customers share more than just money. Encouraging them to leave voice notes, music, recipes. So they can shape a legacy that connects them with the people they love while they’re here. And after they’re gone.
