Volunteer Role Title: Summer School Social Programme Coordinator
Role Description:
We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to join our team as Summer School Social Programme Coordinators (Suitable for school-leavers or graduates looking to get valuable volunteer experience and get their CVs growing!). The successful applicants will be based in our school opposite the Discovery Museum in central Newcastle.
You will learn new skills and undergo training to get certifications in Safeguarding, Prevent and other areas as required (First Aid, . They will take responsibility for leading and overseeing the social and recreational activities for our cohorts of international students attending our summer language school. We will pay your transport costs to the school of up to £5 per day.
We also have 1 summer camp role which require some residential work for those over 18 and willing to relocate to our Activity Centre in Hexham for 3 weeks, accommodation and meals provided.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning and Organising: Develop and implement a diverse, inclusive, and engaging social programme for students of various ages, interests, and backgrounds. (Full training provided)
Activity Leadership: Lead and participate in recreational activities, outings, and special events, ensuring a positive, fun, and safe environment for all students. (Full training provided)
Student Welfare: Monitor student wellbeing, ensure all activities adhere to our safeguarding policies, and report any issues or concerns to the appropriate personnel promptly. (Full training provided)
Communication and Customer Service: Be at the reception desk during key hours and maintain open lines of communication between students, parents, and staff. Handle any concerns or queries professionally and timely. Complete administrative tasks on the computer in relation to enrollment and customer service. (Full training provided)
Administration: Assist with administrative tasks as needed, including attendance records, incident reports, and evaluating the effectiveness of the social programme. (Full training provided)
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong teamworking, organisation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Flexibility to work on student events in the evenings (until 6.30 pm max - any meals and activities paid for by us) and weekends (Sat afternoon school trips - all meals and travel provided) as required.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and policies.
- An enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required for this role.
