The Opportunity:
We are looking to recruit an experienced Electromechanical Fitter / Machinist to join our expanding team in Sheffield. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will play a key role in the disassembly, repair, and reassembly of rotating machines, ensuring work is completed to the highest standard and within agreed timescales. This is a varied and hands-on role that will see you working both in-house and on customer sites, supporting projects and emergency works as required.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspect, strip, and disassemble rotating machines including AC/DC electric motors
- Carry out high-quality repairs with a focus on first-time fix
- Undertake basic electrical testing to establish machine condition
- Accurately assess and record wear, damage, and repair requirements
- Inspect and fit bearings, including white metal bearings
- Support balancing activities (experience advantageous)
- Prepare and assemble machines ready for test runs in line with QA standards
- Produce accurate notes, reports, and paperwork to required deadlines
- Work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
- Deliver exceptional levels of customer care and communication
- Provide support on site projects and respond to emergency works (including overnight stays when required)
Your Skills and Experiences:
- Recognised qualification in Mechanical Engineering (C&G, NVQ or equivalent)
- Previous experience within an electromechanical environment
- Hands-on knowledge of rotating equipment, root cause analysis, and precision measuring
- Experience with bearing inspection and fitting, including white metal bearings
- Ability to use industry equipment correctly and safely during the repair process
- Methodical and accurate approach with excellent attention to detail
- Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach
- Flexibility to travel for short durations to support customer sites
- Full UK driving licence (advantageous)
- Positive attitude to personal and site safety
