We’re expanding our Editorial Team and are looking for multiple temporary team members (up to 3 months, with the potential to become permanent) to join us in our Peterborough office.
Young Writers has been encouraging a love of creative writing for over 30 years. We work with schools, parents and young people across the UK and USA, publishing poetry and stories that children will remember forever. To date, we’ve published over a million original pieces – and we’re only just getting started.
What you'll be doing:
- Proofreading children’s poetry and prose – correcting spelling and grammar while keeping each child’s voice at the heart of the work.
- Comparing digital text against original handwritten entries to ensure every piece is accurate and polished before going to print.
- Editing and improving children’s work with care, making sure it’s the best it can be while staying true to their creativity.
- Retouching children’s artwork submitted to our drawing competitions (you’ll be trained on Photoshop if needed).
- Suggesting fun and inspiring competition themes that spark creativity and encourage young people to express themselves.
- Working to clear KPIs, weekly targets and deadlines as part of a friendly, supportive team.
What we’re looking for:
- Strong proofreading skills – speed and accuracy are key in this role.
- Excellent spelling and grammar.
- Good attention to detail and an appreciation for children’s creativity.
- A positive team player who’s organised and reliable.
- Confident using a computer and comfortable working with digital tools.
- Confidence using Photoshop (or a willingness to learn).

- These are temporary roles for up to 3 months, with the potential to become permanent.
- Start date: Monday 15th September – you must be available to start on this date.
- This is a full-time, office-based position in Peterborough.

- Weekly pay @ £12.50 per hour
