The National Space Academy (NSA) provides education programmes, continuing professional development sessions (CPD) and careers events, designed to support schools’ curricula in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) using space as the inspirational context. This ground-breaking initiative combines world class expertise in space science and climate science at leading universities and companies in the UK with a network of outstanding teachers to provide engaging and effective STEM interventions nationally and internationally.
A National Space Academy East Midlands and Southwest Regional Officer is sought to join the team. This job will be based at the National Space Centre in Leicester; however, the candidate may be expected to travel as part of this role.

Contract
Fixed term to the end of project funding 31st March 2026.
Hours
35 hours per week. These will normally be from Monday to Friday but there will be a requirement for some evening, weekend and bank holiday work according to the needs of the team. Time off in lieu will be granted accordingly.
Closing date for completed applications is 9:00am Tuesday 19th August.
Interviews for successful candidates will take place on Wednesday 27th August at the National Space Centre.
Responsibilities
To manage and administer the various deliverables of the Space to Learn project within the East Midlands and South West regions. It should be noted that all activities being marketed are free to the schools/students
- To organise, facilitate and book masterclasses to targets specified in the project in the East Midlands and South West
- To manage the delivery of a 1-day careers conference at the National Space Centre and a 1-day careers conference in the South West
- To manage the delivery of a half day home education event at the National Space Centre and a half day home education in the South West
- To manage the delivery of a twilight CPD for teachers at the National Space Centre and a twilight CPD for teachers in the South West
- To maintain and keep up to date records of delivery
- To maintain a database of secondary level schools within the region
- To work with and report to the Regional Network Coordinator on progress of targets
- To work with the Programme Manager and to coordinate teachers seconded to the project within the East Midlands and South West
- To monitor and track Space Advocate delivery within their own school
- To support the evaluation of the project
- Continue and development relationships with schools and FE colleges in the region
- To go out into their region as needed to attend networking events; this relates to the East Midlands region with some occasional visits to the South West if required
- Ensure that the correct budgetary, financial, and quality procedures are adhered to
- To ensure the project is delivered to a high standard
- To provide website content to the Marketing and Communications Manager for news stories on the website.
- To attend the multi-day role training and the annual symposium.
This post will also require:
- To Ensure that the National Space Academy marketing enjoys a high profile in the education and science communities, and that the teams employ the best methods of communicating with the target audiences within the region
- Be familiar with National Space Centre operational and administrative procedures to ensure that customer care and other staff are not compromised.
- Working as a member of the National Space Centre team in ensuring that all Health and Safety regulations are adhered to, and that the Health and Safety of the visitor, and other employees are not compromised.
- Undertaking training and development as part of the Personal Development Programme.
- Undertaking any other tasks relevant as may be designated.

Essential
- Experience of working within a booking’s environment
- Experience of planning events
- Experience of maintaining and keeping records up to date
- knowledge of data protection regulations
- The ability to act as an ambassador for the National Space Academy at all times, building professional relationships with partner organisations, stakeholders and colleagues
- Project management skills and the ability to multi-task

- A sensitivity to the needs of and restrictions on those working within formal education
- Good communication skills

The National Space Centre offices with some occasional off-site work and meetings. Occasionally visiting the regional offices when necessary.
