We are a trusted logistics partner, delivering large household items on behalf of some of the UK’s most recognisable retail brands. As our operations expand, we are recruiting Self-Employed Driver’s Mates to support delivery crews across multiple regions.
Role Overview
As a Driver’s Mate, you will work alongside a professional delivery driver as part of a two-person crew. Your role will involve supporting 25–35 deliveries and collections per day, ensuring items are delivered safely to customers' rooms of choice, with excellent service throughout. The position is physically demanding and customer-facing, requiring reliability, initiative, and attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the driver with loading and unloading heavy goods
- Deliver items to customers’ rooms of choice, often involving stair carries
- Support with unpacking and basic assembly where required
- Use handling equipment such as sack barrows, lifting straps, and dollies
- Wear and maintain PPE at all times (e.g., gloves, shoe covers)
- Capture delivery photos and updates using handheld devices or mobile apps
- Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle and loading area
- Communicate courteously with customers and team members
- Report any issues, damages, or delays immediately
- Follow health and safety protocols without exception
Compliance & Behaviour Standards
All applicants must:
- Hold a clean Enhanced DBS certificate
- Be physically fit and capable of manual handling
- Be legally entitled to work in the UK
- Be punctual and committed to completing full daily routes
- Be available for shift starts between 5:30 AM and 10:00 AM
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
- Understand that repeated non-compliance may result in financial penalties or removal from the rota
Trial & Training
- Self-directed and in-field training with support available
- Commuting support and meals may be provided during training days
- Only successful trialists will be placed on the active rota

Stock Loss, Damage & Property Penalties
To ensure high service standards and client confidence, the following apply:
- Negligent Damage or Stock Loss: May result in cost deductions
- Property Damage: Compensation or repair costs may be recovered
- Failure to Report Incidents: May lead to disciplinary action
- Repeat Offences: Can result in formal warnings or termination from rota
Payment Details
- Paid Twice Monthly – on the 2nd and 17th (adjusted for weekends/bank holidays)
- Self-bill arrangement
Daily Rate:
- £70–£80 per day depending on allocations and volume
- After 6 months: Loyalty bonuses and tips may apply
- Minimum contract term: 6 months
- Notice period: 1 month following contract term
