A Domestic Violence specialist, you will work pro-actively with women with complex needs, which includes drug, alcohol and mental health issues, offering risk assessed, strength based, and needs led support. You will work alongside each woman, throughout her journey, agreeing individual safety support plans as well as advocating on her behalf to achieve safe and independent lives.
Essential Duties
· Receives domestic violence hotline calls, conducts confidential intakes and relocation applications, and provides support and options counselling
· Creates accurate, organized, timely, and legible files and documentation.
· Provides supervised legal advocacy in civil and criminal court proceedings; ensures Crime Victims Compensation referrals.
· Provides system advocacy.
· Conducts after hours emergency services.
· Ensures data is accurately collected, recorded, and reported.
· Maintains comprehensive knowledge of community resources; provides information, referrals, and conducts follow-up.
· Submits risk management input; recommends solutions; assists with mitigating risks.
· Conducts support and educational group services.
· Conducts public awareness and outreach activities; travel is required.
· Conducts community and school prevention education; travel is required.
· Assists with volunteer recruitment, training, utilization, and recognition.
· Identifies and reports all potential conflicts within 24 hours.
· Coordinates work related activities with other staff and offices.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of one-year related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Skills
· Ability to manage own caseload, working under pressure and prioritizing workload.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work sensitively and in a non-judgmental manner with vulnerable clients
Case work
· Providing a high-quality support service to women with complex needs, which includes drug, alcohol and mental health issues.
· Supporting women to resettle into new communities after they have left refuge or been referred by the health shop, to make long term positive and sustainable changes in their lives and recover from the harm of domestic violence.
· Advocate on behalf of women with external agencies including where appropriate MARAC, courts, housing, children and adult social care, health and other voluntary and community organizations.
· Attend case review and team meetings and contribute to effective team communication.
· Keep and maintain accurate and confidential records of all work undertaken.
· Contribute to the collection of service outcomes and use clear and coherent targets and monitoring systems to provide evidence that Survivor outcomes are met.
· Contribute to Survivor feedback and voice in service delivery and service development.
· Ensure service standards are maintained and all policies and procedures complied with.
· Ensure that the service is delivered in line with the service contract.
· Ensuring close liaison with the Health Shop, refuges, Helpline and other referring agencies and services (both internal and external) to ensure holistic and joined up service delivery.
· Providing a clear referral pathway into the service that is promoted to and easily accessible to women and key referral partners

Pay: £22,338.00-£23,000.00 per year
