Divisional EDI Partner
Are you passionate about fostering an inclusive culture? Do you have the expertise to work within a complex organisation to positively influence and embed an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) strategy? The Medical Science Division (MSD) is looking for a dynamic and detail orientated individual to join the Divisional Office Team to act as the expert advisor and lead for EDI across the Division.
We are seeking someone who is able to build trusted relationships quickly and can partner with our Academic Lead who has responsibility for EDI. As Divisional EDI Manager this role is pivotal to influencing the development, implementation, evaluation and evolution of the Division’s EDI strategy. You will need to be as confident with analysing data as you are with influencing and communicating to individuals of all levels and staff groups across the Division and University wide.
You will bring strong expertise in equality diversity and inclusion. Whilst prior knowledge of the Higher Education (HEI) would be advantageous for this role, it is not essential. With excellent communication and influencing skills, you are confident working within a complex organisation alongside senior leaders, guiding strategic direction and delivering practical outcomes.
Interviews for this position will be held during the second week of September
About the Medical Science Division
The Medical Science Division is the largest of the four Divisions within Oxford University and we are responsible for setting and delivering our own Operational Strategy, within the Oxford University framework. With a research income of over £500m supporting 6,365 staff across 16 unique Departments, there is significant opportunities for the EDI Partner to have an impact on the activity of the Division and its Departments in embedding an inclusive culture for our students, researchers and staff.
A central component of the role is co-ordinate the Athena Swan applications across the Division. Athena Swan is the Charter Mark that was established in 2005 with a focus on promoting and embedding gender equality within the Higher Education Sector, the remit has now expanded to encompass gender equality more broadly and intersectionality also.
The Medical Science Division has fully embraced the spirit and ethos of Athena Swan over the years that it has been established. This culminated in the success of all 16 of the Medical Sciences Divisional (MSD) Departments achieving a Silver Award by 2022. This role will be supporting the Division with the next step in the evolution of our commitment to EDI to develop, agree and implement a Divisional wide EDI strategy.
