Salary: The starting salary is £34,808, which includes allowances totalling £2,928.
The salary is broken down as £31,880 basic salary, which will increase annually until you reach the top of the scale £34,108. Plus, a location allowance of £1,928 and a non-pensionable allowance of £1,000.

DLS provides in-house legal services for the Metropolitan Police Service (Met). As part of DLS’ Family Disclosure Team (FDT) you will provide specialist help and support in matters relating to family court proceedings on behalf of the Met.
Whilst the team are based in Holborn the post benefits from hybrid working in line with the Met Hybrid Working Policy. FDT falls within the category of support roles.
Work Involves
Working closely with the FDT’s Disclosure Officers, Disclosure Assistants and other Clerks, this role will involve a variety of tasks to assist with the timely disposal of requests for police information by courts, local authorities, solicitor’s firms, interested parties and other agencies.
Purpose
To provide an accurate response, within a timely and appropriate manner, to requests for disclosure relating to Family Proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
- To review the instructions provided by the Disclosure Officer in order to carry out thorough searches on the relevant Met intelligence systems and manual filing systems.
- Use experience to decide if individuals privy to proceedings are identical to those featured in the reports, and consider which reports are relevant and necessary for disclosure;
- Take responsibility for any Community Safety Unit referrals and reallocate the matter to the relevant department/BCU;
- To assist the Disclosure Team with various administrative tasks. To ensure that all cases are prioritised to comply with the restricted deadlines;
- Ensure the work completed is correct, clear and legible, using a methodical approach, attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy whilst adhering to the relevant legislation around disclosure of information;
- To answer or re-direct queries from members of the public, MPS personnel, Local Authority, solicitors and other professional bodies on the requirements of the disclosure of information in family proceedings to the Disclosure Officer or Disclosure Manager;
- To identify and escalate complaints to the Instructing Senior Disclosure Officer.
Other information
- Once fully trained and subject to operational need, opportunities may be available to apply for through-grading to Disclosure Assistant (Band K1) or Disclosure Officer (Band D), subject to meeting the relevant criteria. Deputising opportunities at Band K1 or Band D level may also be available.
- Please note the recruitment process is thorough and consequently can be quite lengthy. Shortlisting and interviews will be based on the criteria listed, and there will be a written exercise to test day-to-day working procedures and the essential criteria listed on the advert.
- Assessments and interviews will take place in-person at Holborn Police Station.

Essential criteria
- An ability to manage conflicting deadlines and priorities with proven organisational skills;
- Excellent attention to detail with an understanding of the need for accuracy and precision;
- Experience of working in a high pressure environment and displaying a proactive and flexible approach to work;
- Good interpersonal skills; with an ability to build good working relationships with internal colleagues and external partners at all levels;
- A high standard of communication, both written and oral with the capability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing;
- Experience of using own initiative and working to deliver results with minimum supervision with an aptitude for working successfully within a team.
Desirable Criteria
- Knowledge of Met information systems Connect, CRIS, PNC, Crimint, Merlin, CAD and IIP
- Experience of dealing with disclosure matters
- Experience working within an intelligence gathering role;
- An understanding of disclosure issues, the Data Protection Act 1998 and the GDPR;
- Good computer skills;
- Ability to respond to enquiries from members of the public, other partner agencies and MPS personnel.
