Detective Superintendent Head of Interventions - (CTPSE) Substantive & On Promotion
We welcome applications from PIP2 accredited substantive Detective Superintendents and Detective Chief Inspectors suitably qualified and supported for promotion.
The purpose of the role is to lead the Interventions capability on behalf of Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE), a department which brings together Prevent and CT Nominal Management in order to deliver both pursue and prevent services. The Interventions capability looks to create a whole systems approach to how CTP and its partners deliver the right interventions, at the right time, using the right partners to learn and improve how we manage risk to protect the public.
Key responsibilities will include;
- Act as the strategic lead for the South East for the Interventions capability, representing the unit and regional forces nationally in related matters.
- Manage and oversee operational and organisational risk across the departments, including Nominal Management and Prevent. This may include managing critical incidents when the need arises and engaging in Gold Groups and partner equivalents.
- Act as Regional Prevent Coordinator, representing a highly scrutinised, high risk and sensitive area of business nationally and in force.
- Maintain strategic relationships, including with the South East regional forces, Local Authorities, Home Office, CTPHQ, National Security Division within Probation and other key partners, with the aim of agreeing and achieving shared goals and outcomes.
- Chair MAPPA Strategic meetings and provide advice, supervision and direction to Chief Inspectors (and others) in relation to MAPPA Level 4s.
Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the south east region and occasionally throughout the UK. Additionally, this role will be posted to one of the several CT offices across the South East - the exact location to be determined by the successful candidate. Therefore a full UK driving licence is required.
You will be also required to perform on-call arrangements for immediate response as required across the South East region
Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary for the successful candidate to obtain and maintain vetting level DV together with a number of enhanced security checks. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past ten years. Exemptions may apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad. Please be aware that if successful there are limitations on travelling to a small number of countries once in post

Substantive Detective Superintendents
For officers substantive at the rank, you must complete the Recommendation for Appointment form in full. Please follow the instructions within the form, relevant to your home force.
Substantive officers will be shortlisted against the Essential Criteria and should submit an online application form. You will be required to upload your latest PDR (or if no PDR, a recent copy of your CPD record/Focus Feedback meeting) and a copy of your Training Record.

For those applying on the basis of promotion, please complete the Promotion Reference form in full. You must follow the instructions within the form, relevant to your home force.
- TVP & Hampshire Officers should submit a “Why Me, Why Now” letter alongside your application. This letter should outline your motivation and suitability for the role at this time. Your evidence should also demonstrate the relevant behaviours, skills, knowledge and experience in relation to your capability at this rank in accordance with the core competencies (CVF) Step up Criteria. The letter must be no more than two (2) sides of A4. The margins must not be modified from 2.54cm. All evidence outside the margins should be removed.
- Surrey & Sussex Officers should have been moderated as Ready Now in their last Future Focussed assessment at Chief Inspector rank.
- Kent Officers may be supported, however this is dependent on the resourcing requirement at the time in Kent Police, the ranks involved, and other operational factors and considerations. Officers should also have been rated as “Ready Now” for promotion, or “Ready in 1-2 Years” in the recent succession planning process in order to be supported.
