About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join the University of Oxford as a Data Protection and Information Governance Apprentice within the Nuffield Department of Medicine (NDM). NDM is one of the world’s leading centres for biomedical research, tackling global health challenges through cutting-edge science. You will join a dynamic team working across Oxford and with global partners, supporting the department’s compliance with data protection legislation and promoting best practices in information governance. You will assist with handling data protection enquiries, contributing to data protection impact assessments, supporting audits, and helping to raise awareness of good information governance across the department. You’ll also have the opportunity to work with central University teams, giving you insight into governance at both departmental and institutional levels.
About the apprenticeship
As part of this role, you will undertake an Apprenticeship with DAMAR TRAINING, (supported by Act Now Training), where you will complete the LEVEL 4 DATA PROTECTION AND INFORMATION GOVERNANCE PRACTITIONER APPRENTICESHIP.
For this apprenticeship, you will work at the Nuffield Department of Medicine, based at the Henry Wellcome Building on the Old Road Campus in Oxford.
In total, it will take 2 years to complete all elements of the apprenticeship, with support from the Department, University, and Training Provider throughout.

About you
You will be passionate about starting your career in Information Governance and excited about the opportunity of becoming an apprentice at the University of Oxford. You may be starting your career or you may be looking for a career change.
To complete the level 3 apprenticeship you will need to evidence passes at 9-4 or A*-C in GCSE Maths and English, or equivalent. Regardless of your prior qualifications Damar Training will require you to complete a short initial assessment during the application process. There are also government residency requirements for Apprenticeship funding which the Training Provider will be able to advise on.
