We are seeking a skilled Interpreter to facilitate communication between multilingual individuals and service providers in various settings, including hospitals and social work environments. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of medical terminology and the ability to interpret and translate effectively while adhering to confidentiality standards, including HIPAA regulations. This role is crucial in ensuring clear communication, particularly in sensitive situations involving child protective services.
Responsibilities
- Provide accurate interpretation services for patients and families in medical settings, ensuring clear communication between healthcare professionals and non-English speaking individuals.
- Translate documents as needed, maintaining the integrity of the original message while adapting it to the target language.
- Review documentation to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including HIPAA.
- Assist social workers by interpreting during assessments and meetings, facilitating effective communication with clients.
- Utilize knowledge of medical terminology to accurately convey complex information in both languages.
- Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times, especially when dealing with sensitive information.
Skills
- Proficiency in Creole language, with a strong emphasis on English and other relevant languages.
- Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong interpreting skills with the ability to communicate effectively across diverse populations.
- Familiarity with child protective services processes and terminology is a plus.
- Excellent documentation review skills to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal standards.
- Ability to work under pressure while maintaining attention to detail and clarity in communication.
