Job Advert

We have two exciting opportunities for Counter Terrorism Security Advisors to join the South East region, with one post located in Kent/Surrey or Sussex (location dependant on the appointees home address) and one in Newbury, Berkshire

The role of Counter Terrorism Security Advisers (CTSAs) is to deliver counter terrorism protective security advice and awareness training to Venues and Public Spaces, Hazardous Sites, Critical National Infrastructure and to deliver personal security advice to individuals.

In this role you will conduct counter terrorism protective security assessments to national standards of relevant sites and sectors and provide specialist advice while recommending and influencing the implementation of measures to reduce vulnerability. You will ensure that site owners/operators comply with statutory obligations outlined in the Anti-Terrorism Crime and Security Act 2001 regarding the security of designated pathogens and toxins or comply with statutory obligations outlined in the Environmental Permitting (England and Wales) Regulations 2010.

The ideal candidate would possess the following characteristics, but if you feel you have transferable skills that would allow you to excel in the role, you are encouraged to apply;

  • Have the ability to influence and negotiate with senior leaders.
  • Proven and well evidenced experience of problem solving with the ability to identify vulnerabilities and provide appropriate advice coupled with sound judgement and decision making.
  • An effective team player, who is able to work autonomously, be self sufficient and be able to work well with a minimal of supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, being confident in writing complex reports
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing demands and to deal with several complex issues simultaneously; demonstrating proficiency in time management and the ability to prioritise and manage work efficiently.
  • Can demonstrate an understanding of the threat from, and current affairs in, terrorism, current terrorist methodology and the police response to those threats.

You will either possess or be required to complete the current National CTSA Accreditation process, attaining a Certificate of Occupational Competence within two years of the initial course by successfully completing mandatory courses and written security surveys to a national standard.

Please note that this role is part of a national, regional and local network and as a result you may be required to travel for business purposes mainly across the South East region and occasionally throughout the UK. Therefore, a full UK driving licence is essential for the successful candidate. This is a hybrid role so you will be working remotely on occasions.

Due to the nature of our work, security is of paramount importance to us and therefore it will be necessary to pass and maintain vetting level SC. In order to achieve this, you must be a British National and have resided in the UK for the past five years. Exemptions apply for overseas or other diplomatic service (with HM Government), and studying abroad.

You can find more information about security vetting here.
