Aberdeenshire, Scotland
Full time

Are you ready to make a difference?

At Sulmara, our people care about their environmental impact. Do you?

Are you a confident negotiator with a strong background in contracts and compliance? Do you want to play a key role in supporting a growing global business in the offshore energy sector?

Sulmara is seeking a Contracts Lead to join our team. Reporting directly to the Head of Contracts & Compliance, you'll be at the heart of our operations - supporting projects across the full contract lifecycle, advising commercial and executive teams, and ensuring our agreements are both commercially robust and fully compliant.

This is a varied and influential role where you'll not only lead contract negotiations but also deputise for the Head of Contracts & Compliance which means that you will contribute to strategic decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across our global business.

What You'll Do

Lead negotiations for client and supplier contracts, MSAs, subcontracts, vessel charters, NDAs, and purchase orders.

Provide expert advice on commercial risk, compliance, and insurance requirements.

Support tender reviews, bid/no bid decisions, and governance approval processes.

Manage post-award contracts including change orders, extensions, claims, and dispute resolution.

Ensure compliance with anti-bribery, sanctions, competition law, data protection, and modern slavery regulations.

Oversee contractual insurance requirements, review certificates, and support claims and renewals.

Deputise for the Head of Contracts & Compliance, representing the function at internal reviews and approving contracts within delegated authority.

Drive continuous improvement by embedding lessons learned and evolving best practices.

What You'll Need

Proven experience in contract negotiation and management, ideally in offshore energy (oil & gas or renewables).

Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance risk and opportunity.

Knowledge of compliance frameworks and relevant legislation (anti-bribery, sanctions, competition law, data protection, etc.).

Excellent stakeholder management skills - confident working with project teams, executives, and external counsel.

Detail-oriented with strong organisational skills and a proactive mindset.

Ability to lead, influence, and deputise at senior level when required.

Why Join Sulmara?

At Sulmara, we're redefining offshore survey and site characterisation for the global energy transition. You'll be joining a collaborative, forward-thinking team which means that your expertise will have a direct impact on the success of our projects worldwide.

What We Offer

A dynamic role with exposure to high-profile international projects - you will gain experience of managing contract globally.

Opportunity to shape contracting strategies and influence business decisions - you will be empowered to make decisions independently within your given parameter and remit.

Competitive salary and benefits package - you will enjoy our 45 days paid annual leave.

A supportive culture that values professional growth and innovation - you will work independently but never alone.

Sounds like you?

You may be curious about joining Sulmara because you feel your current role doesn't fully utilise your talent. If you want to take charge of your own career, become empowered and heard, look no further - you will find no layers of bureaucracy when it comes to your own career growth here.

You'll Love Working with Us

There's a strong sense of community at Sulmara. You will experience a hands-on, real-time approach to problem solving, a blurring of the usually definite lines between offshore and onshore and a warm welcome, whichever walk of life you come from.

Are ready to make your mark?

Apply now (even if your CV isn't quite up to scratch), be part of a company driving change in offshore energy and let us drive your career forward, too.
