Applications are invited for the fixed-term post listed above.
The successful candidate will join a close-knit team of paediatricians working across both acute (hospital-based) and community settings. Child health services in Fife are delivered across a number of community settings and in a 24 bedded in-patient ward located in the recently built wing of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy. A separate children’s out-patient department and ambulatory care unit complete the services offered in the hospital. There are around 4300 medical paediatric admissions per annum. Additional out-patients services are offered at the Queen Margaret Hospital in Dunfermline.
The successful applicant would be expected to contribute to the acute consultant of the week and on call rota (currently 1 in 9) at the Victoria Hospital. A separate neonatal rota is in place.
The post would be to provide Maternity Leave cover to our existing epilepsy team of 2 consultants & Epilepsy Specialist Nurse. General paediatrics at Victoria Hospital is a dynamic, well supported and highly regarded service supporting the local population of Fife. You will join a friendly, experienced and supportive team of consultants.
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Portfolio Pathway (formerly known as CESR - Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once it has been awarded. Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training to Non-UK Applicants must demonstrate that they have the knowledge, skills and experience required for practising as an eligible specialist in the UK.
