Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Community Partner to join our incredible team in Carmarthenshire.
As a Community Partner, you'll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs. The ideal candidate will most likely live within the region or be able to demonstrate they have a strong knowledge of the local communities. Being a Welsh speaker is desirable.
This position will be on a part time basis (30 hours per week). The position is a fixed term contract ends March 2027 (possibility of extension).
You will work in an Asset-based approach to enhance people's health and wellbeing, and promote their resilience and independence. The range of assets encompasses community relationships and social networks, and community and neighbourhood services, activities and facilities. You will also need to work in a co-production way, whereby everybody works together on an equal basis to create a project or come to a decision which works for them all and partner with the community to make Ammanford the best place for people with a learning disability & their families to live

- Support people with a learning disability & families turn ideas into action by working in an asset-based way
- Facilitate collaboration with existing services and community assets to develop stronger, inclusive communities
- Work alongside local services, supporting them to develop their local offer for maximum impact
- Create opportunities for co-production, shaping how services respond to the needs of local people with a learning disability
- Gather stories and learning to understand the impact and develop the local system for sharing learning from this approach
- Be a trusted route to advice, information & advocacy support
- You will support people to access the information and advice they need
- Develop strong links with local advocacy providers & manage the funding allocation to support self-advocacy
This role requires you to be a driver, and have access to a car for work purposes.
