Job Description

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in one of the UK’s most ambitious low-carbon energy projects? As a Commissioning Engineer at EDF UK, you’ll be at the heart of bringing Hinkley Point C to life, combining your technical expertise with hands-on delivery to help power millions of homes. This is more than a job; it’s a chance to shape the future of energy while growing your career in a truly unique environment.

The Opportunity

At Hinkley Point C (HPC) we are building two new nuclear reactors, the first in a new generation of nuclear power stations in the UK providing low carbon electricity for around six million homes.

As a Commissioning Engineer, you’ll be part of a team that thrives on variety and challenge. From day one, you’ll be supported by experienced leaders and colleagues as you help plan, execute, and analyse commissioning tests. You’ll work across a wide range of technical areas, gaining valuable hands-on experience and contributing to the safe and successful delivery of this landmark project.

We’re proud of our commitment to training and development. As the commissioning team grows rapidly, so too will your opportunities for progression. Whether you’re looking to deepen your technical skills or step into leadership, we’ll support your journey every step of the way.

Pay, Benefits & Culture

The salary range associated with this role is from £55,000, we offer a competitive benefits package, including a company pension scheme, and a wide range of flexible benefits to suit your lifestyle. We’re talking about everything from enhanced parental leave to electric vehicle leasing, health insurance to product discounts, critical illness insurance to technology vouchers, gym membership to season ticket loans.

At EDF UK, we embrace flexibility while recognising that everyone's working needs are different. Whether you're in our office spaces, on site, or working remotely, we promote an environment that supports collaboration, connection, and comfort. No matter where you are, our priority is to make sure you feel safe, valued, and celebrated.

Here, we do right by each other and everyone’s welcome. We’re on an action-oriented journey, championing equity, diversity, and inclusion. We’d like our future workforce to have an equal gender balance, represent a broad mix of people from minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+, those with a disability and supporting social mobility.

We’re a disability confident employer and we’ll do all we can to help with your application. Please let us know if you need to request reasonable adjustments.

We take pride in fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment, where the diverse backgrounds and experiences of our employees drive fresh thinking and innovation. We understand that success means different things to different people. We believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we support you to pursue a career that’s unique to you. Because success is personal.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you’ll be instrumental in ensuring that systems and equipment are commissioned safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. You’ll work closely with a wide range of stakeholders, from designers and contractors to operations and project teams—helping to align technical requirements with real-world delivery.

You’ll contribute to the development of commissioning plans, review technical documentation, and support the execution of commissioning tests. Your insights will help shape decisions, resolve challenges, and keep the project moving forward. Every day will bring new technical topics and opportunities to learn.

As part of a supportive and growing team, you’ll be encouraged to share your ideas, take ownership of your work, and make a real impact. Your ability to communicate clearly, think critically, and collaborate effectively will be key to your success.

Who You Are

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring a proactive mindset, strong communication abilities, and a genuine commitment to safety and quality. You’ll be a natural problem-solver, able to think critically under pressure and collaborate effectively with diverse teams. Your attention to detail, adaptability, and eagerness to learn will help you navigate the fast-paced and technical nature of commissioning work.

Ideally, you’ll have a degree (or equivalent experience) in an engineering discipline and previous experience in commissioning within a complex or regulated environment. You’ll be confident working with technical documentation and have a practical, solution-focused approach to challenges.

Most importantly, you’ll be someone who takes pride in their work, values teamwork, and is excited by the opportunity to contribute to a project of national significance.

Closing date for applications is Sunday 22nd June, interviews will follow shortly after.
