Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Alterations Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in garment alterations, with a keen eye for detail and a passion for delivering high-quality results. As an Alterations Specialist, you will be responsible for altering and repairing garments to meet customer specifications, ensuring that each piece fits perfectly and meets our high standards of quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess garments for alterations and repairs, offering expert recommendations to customers
- Perform a wide range of alterations including hemming, taking in/letting out seams, adjusting sleeves and shoulders, and modifying garment lengths
- Independently handle alterations for all types of clothing including bridal, prom, bridesmaid, and special occasion wear
- Operate industrial sewing machines and overlockers, as well as hand-sewing when required
- Maintain an organised and efficient workspace, ensuring all tools and equipment are in excellent condition
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding their preferences and required adjustments
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and meet alteration deadlines consistently
- Deliver excellent customer service and ensure a positive client experience throughout
Requirements
- Female applicants only (due to the nature of fittings and client comfort)
- Must reside in the UK and have the legal right to work
- Minimum 5 years of professional experience in garment alterations, particularly for formal and occasion wear
- Proven track record of working independently and delivering high-standard alterations
- Strong attention to detail and confidence working with a wide variety of fabrics and designs
- Proficient use of industrial sewing machines and overlockers
- Excellent spoken and written English communication skills
- Ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced setting
- Must be available to work on Saturdays
